Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits many of them based in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in the love of Colorado and eventually relocated to Aspen. Denver's national anthems to his adopted state have drawn many to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated it was because John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its first member in 2011. Many consider Denver to be the Colorado image. Through my many travels, I have met many individuals who do not hail from Colorado. They'll beg, "Oh John Denver!" when they hear that you come from Colorado. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo artist following a short period in small folk ensembles. Danoff originally wrote it with Johnny Cash's music with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver realized from the first time he heard the earlier versions that it would be a big popular. A few days after the performance to a throng of fans on the streets of Washington D.C., the performer recorded the track.
