Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September 1983) is an American actress, best known for her roles in the roles of Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television show Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. After the divorce of her parents the actress left Worthington, Ohio to live at Los Angeles. Even though she had financial difficulties and in the beginning, she made her acting debut in the role of Rachel's Room's principal character. In 2002 she was nominated to receive an Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murdered Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford played Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons of 2004 and was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award (with the rest of the cast) along with her. Grace was forced to quit the show in order to focus on her professional film work. She had starred alongside Tom Welling opposite in The Fog earlier in the year 2005. She starred as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken 2008) as Suburban Girl and The Jane Austen Book Club. She reprised this role in Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). The actress also appeared in Alice as Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is a modern interpretation of the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to Shannon's character in Lost for two additional episodes, including the finale of the series. In 2013, she appeared in the sixth episode of Californication. The actress plays Faith a groupie and an muse for the stars who captures the attention of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. Gyllenhaal is a part of the family, and is the older sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was in her teens, she played small parts in her father's movies and was co-starring with her brother in Donnie Darko the famous cult film. She then appeared on the screen in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in both the drama Sherrybaby (2005) as well as the romance comedy Secretary (2002). The two films were critically acclaimed. After a string of commercially successful films, such as World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely in the role of Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). In the film, her performance as Crazy Heart as a mother who is a single parent received her a nomination to an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. Following that she was a part of comedies as well as dramatic movies: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012. Other roles are as an agent for The Secret Service in White House Down 2013. She also appeared as a vocalist in Frank 2014, and in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she portrays the main role. In 2021 Gyllenhaal was able to make her writing and directing debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she won the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
